In Daviess County, Judge Executive Al Mattingly wins the Republican primary in one of the closest races of the night.  He edged out his challenger, Gary Boswell, 53% to 47%.  No Democrats ran for the post this year.

The Judge Executive race was one of the most closely watched ones in Daviess County.  Both Mattingly and Boswell were at home, surrounded by family and friends, hoping that the results would go their way this evening.  Mattingly says there's still work to be done in Daviess County.  Boswell says despite the close race, he expects county Republicans to rally together for other candidates this fall.

"We're going to emphasize economic development, we're going to emphasize education," says Mattingly. "One of the big things we got to do is get Phase two Technology Center built at Owensboro Community and Technical College."

"If I fail to win, then I'm going to support Mr. Mattingly," says Boswell. "I hope that the Republican Party comes together in the fall to elect Mitch McConnell as our next U.S. Senator."

Boswell also says he still plans to be involved in county politics.
