July 2017: Media reports suggest that Microsoft may lay off thousands of employees as it reorganizes its sales operations.
June 2017: Hudson's Bay -- parent company of retail giants Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor -- is cutting its workforce by about 2,000 jobs across its North American operations.
After a June acquisition, Yahoo and AOL will form a new digital company under Verizon called Oath. Verizon expects to cut as many as 2,100 employees from the combined venture, or about 15% of the staff.
General Motors has eliminated about 5,000 jobs since November of 2016. The cuts have come through eliminating shifts at the automaker's various plants.
