New Illinois Bill Gives Non-Violent Juveniles A Break
Springfield, Illinois -Governor Pat Quinn has signed a new bill that will clear arrest records for less serious, non -violent juvenile cases. Quinn says the "clean state" bill was passed with the hopes of not doing permanent damage to a young person's life. The bill automatically clears a juvenile's arrest record on his or her 18th birthday; if that arrest does not result in criminal charges and no additional arrests or delinquencies. The law eliminates the need to go through a court process to do that. The law will become effective in January of 2015.
