Commissioner Heather French Henry toured the Western Kentucky Veterans Center.
A wing of the center, which is just off the Pennyrile Parkway, recently reopened.
Henry says she wants to get the word out about services available to area vets.
"We want to make sure that, especially even in those outlying regions," said Henry, "that they know there's a veterans specific nursing home that's catered for veterans, about their needs, and is run by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs is here in their own backyard."
Henry was appointed commissioner by Governor Beshear, replacing former Congressman Ken Lucas.
