Indiana state officials request a new waiver from the federal No Child Left Behind requirements.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz submitted the state's application today to the U.S. Department of Education.

At stake is control over a portion of more than $200 million Indiana receives in federal education dollars each year.

If granted, the waiver will allow greater flexibility for how Indiana schools use federal education funds.
