Tonight, Peoria's city leaders approve a plan 7-4 offering the LST Board a five year contract to come to Illinois.
The plan offers an amount not to exceed $500,000 with the LST docking near the I-74 bridge, not on the downtown riverfront.
The actual cost of the project is estimated at nearly $1.6 million, which means the offer is contingent on getting the rest of the funds from outside sources, not the city.
The council says with this vote proves Peoria can compete with Evansville. We will continue to follow this story.
