Western Kentucky University Partnering with Ivy Tech

Leaders at Western Kentucky University and at Ivy Tech Community College are focusing on a partnership to help more young people earn four year degrees.

The institutions have signed a joint admissions agreement that will offer students a chance to get academic opportunities from both schools.

WKU has similar partnerships with other colleges, but this is its first with an Indiana institution.

"Students will enroll at Ivy Tech and will immediately be paired up with Western Kentucky University from the onset," said Ivy Tech Chancellor Jonathan Weinzapfel. "They're going to have two academic advisers, one from Ivy Tech, one from Western Kentucky, to help that student through the process of obtaining their associates degree and moving on to a four year bachelor's degree. "

Another bonus of this agreement, Ivy Tech students from any of the counties here in southwestern Indiana are also eligible to receive in-state tuition at the WKU Owensboro campus.
