Sunday afternoon St. Mary's Children's Services held a Newborn Intensive Care Unit Reunion Open House.
Families of babies born prematurely or with potentially serious medical problems often form a special bond with physicians and staff who cared for them during that difficult time.
The annual reunion is a chance for NICU graduates and their parents to visit with those staff members again.
The Hoehn family traveled from Tennessee for the event.
Last year, they were visiting family in the area when the mother went into labor two and a half months early.
Even though they don't live in Evansville, the Hoehn's say they feel like they're back home.
The twins turn one later this month.
The NICU averages 400 admissions a year.
More than 17,000 babies have been cared for in the unit since it opened in 1977.
