Madisonville, KY - The Madisonville Police Department requested Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville to investigate an overnight officer involved shooting in Madisonville.  Two Madisonville Police Officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Douglas M. Seaton, 35, of Madisonville.  M.P.D. says, Seaton fled the traffic stop and officers initiated a vehicle pursuit for approximately one mile.  Police say Seaton exited the vehicle, brandished a firearm, and failed to comply with verbal commands as he approached the officers.  Madisonville Police fired shots and struck Seaton.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Dennis Mayfield.  An autopsy was scheduled for this morning, at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.  Per M.P.D. policy, both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
