It's been sinking July 2013 when a new bridge was built in it's place, but part of the old bridge near Paducah finally hit the ground Sunday.

Kentucky State Police say the western spans of the Old Ledbetter Bridge are on the ground.
Engineers are on site inspecting it.

Just a few days ago, contractors had arrived to prepare for demolition of the bridge over the next six months.

Kentucky Transportation officials are warning the public to avoid the area along the bluff and the shoreline.
