Construction of a new gym for a Tri-State middle school is coming together. Crews broke ground late last year at Perry Heights.

Today, walls stand tall in the parking lot next to the west side school. This gym has been several years in the making.

The $3 million project is unique for the EVSC. The school corporation is using new pre-cast concrete panels, which they say cuts construction time in half.

Project construction manager Roger Lehman says even with the new paneling, crews have had to battle the elements to stay on time.

"We did have about a two week delay on the panels because they are made in Indianapolis," said Lehman. "They had some problems getting them here, and we weren't ready down here with the conditions. But now, it's all coming together."

While weather has been a challenge, Lehman says they are still targeting a late August completion date.
