A new place to rest along Evansville's Pigeon Creek Greenway. It now has 15 environmentally friendly benches.

They're made of 100 percent recycled plastic. They're funded by a grant from Alcoa.

Executive Director for Parks and Recreation Denise Johnson says these benches have been a long time coming.

"Which is one thing I've heard since I arrived in office was we need seating," said Johnson. "We like the Greenway, but we don't always want to just walk or walk and run. We just need a place to relax and enjoy the view."

Johnson says they're now looking into installing solar lighting and drinking fountains. The Greenway is the city's most used park with more than 4,500 people visiting it each week.
