Despite pleas from a former tenant and some city officials, a historic Evansville home has been demolished.
And it didn't take long.
The property owner had the home at 305 East Columbia torn down on Wednesday. Crews spent part of the day Thursday cleaning up what remained of the historic structure. The home, built in 1891, was listed as a 'notable' on the city's architectural survey.
The Historic Preservation Commission had demolition delayed by two weeks in hopes that a private investor would save the property. However, that deadline passed last Thursday.
