Scaly creatures took over Wesselman Woods Nature Center and Preserve Saturday.

Snakes, turtles, iguanas and other reptiles were on display for the second annual 'Reptile Roundup.'

Organizers say the event breaks down barriers between people and animals they don't normally interact with.

"It's nice for them to realize that, 'oh, it's just an animal like a cat or dog. It's not going to try to eat me, it doesn't hate me, it's just an animal," said Chris Ulrich of the Herpetological Society,

We're told attendance at this year's Reptile Roundup was on track to beat last year's numbers.
