Good economic news for southwestern Indiana.

A new manufacturing plant cuts the ribbon in the city of Washington.Officials expect the facility to bring about 70 jobs to Daviess County.

Alliance Barrier Films makes multilayer film that's used in several every day plastic products, like the lining of frozen food packages.

The building is more than 17,000 square feet and it will be fully completed in 2017.

Officials say it's the perfect fit to bring development to the area.v"And the whole idea of I-69 was economic development, and to spur business growth in southwestern, Indiana and through out the state. And so, this has been a testament that it was a good assumption to start with, and we hope to see much more of it happen."

The facility is located near the I-69 interchange in Daviess County.

Economic development leaders say the new interstate was one of the main reasons the company picked Washington.
