Senate Approves Ukraine Aid, Russia Sanctions Bill

- U.S. lawmakers approve $1 billion aid package for Ukraine today.

The House passed the bipartisan bill overwhelmingly in reaction to Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Penninsula. The package is aimed to promote democracy and security in the country.

President Obama says he plans to sign the legislation, which will also include new sanctions against Russian officials who threaten Ukraine's sovereignty.
