The U.S. Senate steps up pressure on the NFL to force the Washington Redskins to change their name.

50 Senate Democrats signed a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. It urges him to take action over concerns the team name is offensive to Native Americans.

The letter also asks the NFL to follow the lead of the NBA, which took tough measures against L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling for racist comments against African Americans.

Team owner Daniel Snyder has repeatedly said he will never change the name.
