The US Senate overwhelmingly approves broad reforms to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The bill makes it easier for the VA Secretary to fire incompetent executives.
It also creates more than 24 new VA Medical facilties around the country. It also authorizes $500,000,000 to hire new doctors and nurses.
Under the new legislation, veterans will be allowed to seek private care outside the VA system.
The vote comes after reports uncovered excessive wait times and false appointment records at VA facilities nationwide.
