The Southwest Indiana Chamber is offering $250,000 to restaurateurs and entrepreneurs who have the right plan for a restaurant in the old Roger’s Jewelers building on the corner of Fourth and Main Street in downtown Evansville.
Joshua Armstrong, director of the Downtown Alliance for the Southwest Indiana Chamber, said those interested have until October 15 to submit menus, business plans and biographies to the Main Course Restaurant Challenge Committee.
Once finalists are selected, Armstrong said there will be a meet and greet and a cook-off in November.
He said a restaurant will be in the building by September 1, 2015.
According to Armstrong, the $250,000 mostly came from donations, but $30,000 of public funding was donated for façade restoration.
