UPDATE: A man is taken into custody after two unattended backpacks were discovered near the marathon finish line. Police say the backpacks belonged to the man and forced the area to be evacuated.

Witnesses say they saw a person with a backpack screaming "Boston strong" before police cleared the area. They say he was barefoot, wearing a long black veil, and acting strange.

Both bags were detonated by bomb squads, and no one was injured.

This scare came only hours after the city paused to mark the anniversary of the bombings-- which killed three people and wounded hundreds.

Police confirm two unattended backpacks were found near the Boston Marathon finish line this evening. A bomb squad is on scene and the area has been evacuated.

The backpacks were found on the eve of the 2014 Boston Marathon and the one year anniversary of the bombings.

Police say one person of interest has been taken into custody.

We'll continue to follow this developing story.
