Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is calling for more gun control measures.
12 people have been shot to death in Illinois over the past 2 weekends.
Over this last weekend, Quinn visited one of those crime scenes to push for the the Illinois Public Safety Act.
It would ban the possession, delivery, sale and purchase of assault weapons.
It also bans high capacity magazines, or clips, and it also bans 50 caliber rifles and magazines in the Land of Lincoln.
People who legally have these weapons would be grandfathered in, but could not transfer or sell them to a non-family member.
It also requires  background checks for the transfer of firearms, except to a family member or at a gun show.
