Days after same-sex marriages were halted in the state of Indiana, an advocacy group has filed an emergency motion asking for an exception.
Lambda Legal has filed papers with the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals asking the court to recognize the marriage of Niki Quasney and Amy Sandler.
Quasney is battling stage 4 ovarian cancer.
Last week US Federal Judge Richard Young ruled the same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional.
But, a stay filed last Friday stopped the marriage of same-sex couples in Indiana until the appeals court issues its decision.
