The Winter weather taking a toll on energy assistance programs.

Indiana's LIHEAP program spent nearly $48 million helping low income families pay their utility bills this Winter. That doesn't leave any money for Summer cooling assistance programs.

LIHEAP usually pays enough on an energy bill to keep the utility running when people are facing shutoff. It helped more than 130,000 Hoosier households this Winter.
