Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is slashing the state budget. One of the first projects to go is a $250 million plan to renovate the capitol building.

The governor wants other state agencies to look for places to make cuts as well. Quinn also wants half of the state's aircraft to be sold, which he says will save more than $7 million a year in maintenance costs.

Last week, he cut 80 paid parking spaces for state employees. That's expected to save taxpayers more than $100,000 each year.
