Illinois Supreme Court Turns Down Term Limits Issue

The Illinois Supreme Court will not take up the issue of legislative term limits, at least for now.

A group in Illinois wants voters to decide in November if politicians should be limited to how long they can serve in public office.

A circuit court judge blocked the issue. So, supporters asked the Illinois Court of Appeals to hear the case. That court instead passed the issue on to the Supreme Court.

Since the justices wouldn't hear the case, supporters will request the court of appeals for an expedited hearing, so the issue can be decided before the ballot deadline.
