Indiana's first female Supreme Court Chief Justice is sworn in today in Indianapolis.

Loretta Rush replaces Brent Dickson. Dickson announced in June he would be stepping down but will stay on as an associate justice.

Rush is a former judge in Tippecanoe County and was appointed to the Supreme Court by Mitch Daniels in 20012. Governor Mike Pence administered the oath of office today.

Rush was selected earlier this month by the 7 member judicial nominating commission. Rush is the first woman to serve on the court since Myra Selby stepped down in 1999.
