Two Month Search is Over, Lockwood Found, Friend says in Good Spirits

- Tonight the search for Joelle Lockwood is over and the Evansville Police Department confirms a criminal investigation is underway. The mother of two went missing July 9th.

After searching relentlessly for two months, across, two states, Joelle Lockwood is found alive and safe at Jefferson Square Apartments on Evansville's south side.

"I can't even imagine how she's going to feel knowing how hard we've all been looking for her." Her longtime friend Amanda Crowe spearheaded search efforts, but never thought she'd be found so close to home, or even alive. "Each day that would go past you knew it would be less likely that we would find her alive. We all knew that."

Crowe says Joelle was in good spirits as she was taken into the police station. "I saw her smiling and talking to the police officer. So she was obviously very glad to be in that vehicle with him. She was smiling at us and saying that she was okay."

But Crowe says Joelle didn't look quite the same. "She looked like she's been through something. She was not herself. No. No."

Crowe says her intuition leads her to believe Joelle was held against her will. Evansville Police have not indicated whether officers believe that to be true.

"She missed some milestones that we knew Joelle would not miss. So at this point I can only assume that she was being held against her will. I believe that if she had known that we were searching for her at that caliber she would have absolutely called her mother."

While the circumstances surrounding Joelle's disappearance have not been released, her friends can rejoice that she is home. And encourage other families in the area still waiting for their loved one to come home.

"To all the other families out there a that are looking for somebody. You absolutely can't loose hope."

In recent weeks authorities have said Lockwood's disappearance has no relation to other missing women in the area. As of now authorities have not been able to be reached to ask if anything has changed since Joelle has been found.
