Fans crowd around the 18th hole tee box as the final group blasts their drives down the fairway. Something that should be expected at any elite golf tournament and something that makes event organizers like Patrick Nichol optimistic about the tournament's future in Warrick County. "We had the best attendance we've ever had and I'm real excited about the momentum we have moving forward," said Tournament Director Patrick Nichol.

Not only was the tee box packed, but the sky box surrounding the 18th green was busy all week. Which caught the attention of more than just organizers. "The players all told me we really felt like we were a PGA Tour event at the 18th green and a lot of the support of local businesses allowed us to make that happen," said Nichol.

Golf is the main attraction for spectators, but fans of the game have seen improvements in the tournament from year to year in places other than the course. "Every year it seems the hospitality keeps improving and people are real gracious and have a good time. It's just a pleasant experience," said Jerry Paul of Evansville.

Attendance is up, business sponsorship is up, and the tournament is as competitive as ever. This is the final year of the current tournament contract. Will the growing support from fans and businesses be enough to bring the event back? "This is the end of a three year contract and that's not abnormal. I can tell you that all four entities are all working together to see if we can't find two or three more years. I'm very optimistic that we will be playing golf here next year," said Nichol.

Nichol says he hopes to move the tournament to a different week, but he did not have a specific date on hand.
