19 Indiana counties will get federal assistance for fallout from January's cold weather, but Vanderburgh County is not one of them.

City and county leaders applied for a FEMA grant back in March. It would have covered up to 75 percent of expenses a county had after the Winter storm the first week of January.

Initially, FEMA denied all claims from the counties. But after each one appealed, the agency has narrowed down who will get the grant money.

Emergency Management officials in Vanderburgh County had looked forward to getting the assistance. The Water and Sewer Utility spent half a million dollars this winter, mostly on water main break repairs.
