The USI Screaming Eagles have defeated Evansville for the first time since 1988, and the first time ever at Braun Stadium.  With the win, Tracy Archuleta chalked up his 299th win as USI's head coach.  The Eagles also tied a school record 15 straight wins.

Evansville struck first in the bottom of the second on RBIs from Shain Showers and Jarod Perry. But the USI bats came alive in the top of the fourth.  Matt Chavarria got things going with a one-out double.  Brent Weinzapfel knocked him in, followed by an RBI double from Hamilton Carr. Evansville walked the bases loaded and hit two consecutive batters to push the lead to 5-2.

Evansville never caught up and the Eagles took the game 9-4.  Evansville travels to Carbondale for an MVC matchup with Southern Illinois.  USI finishes up its regular season with a pair of double headers at the University of Indianapolis Friday and Saturday.
