Flash's Villegas Has Fond Memories of Little League World Series Experience

Henderson Flash catcher Fernando Villegas is already a World Series veteran.

Back in the summer of 2008, Villegas played in the Little League World Series for team Mexico.

During his trip to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Villegas and his teammates won the International title before losing to Hawaii in the Little League World Series championship game.

"Everybody wants to play in the Little League World Series," said Villegas.

"It's one of the best experiences ever when you're a kid."

Today, Fernando Villegas is one of only a few players from the 2008 Mexico team that's still playing baseball, and it's all thanks to his mother.

Following his Little League World Series experience, Fernando's mother moved him to the United States to play baseball at a higher level.

"I feel blessed, because my mom brought me over here to play baseball and for a better life. Baseball over there doesn't progress, so over here you have more chances to do something with your life."
