Jasper Tops Northview in Extras to Advance to State

The Jasper Wildcats are headed back to the state championship game.

For the fourteenth time in school history, the Wildcats were crowned Semi-State champs, thanks to a 3-2 win over Northview in extra innings.

After Northview tied the game up 2-2 in the seventh, Jasper regained the lead in the tenth with an Eric Nordhoff sac fly.

In the bottom half of the inning, Northview's Luke Lancaster ripped a pitch down the left field line with a runner on first and two outs.

The game-tying run was given the green light to score, but a perfect relay to home plate, and the sure hands of catcher Adam Hedinger saved the game for the Wildcats.

With the win, the Wildcats advance to the Class 3A championship game, where they will play South Bend St. Joseph's in Indianapolis.
