After beating the heat and Emina Betkas in three sets, University of Georgia junior Kennedy Shaffer was crowned the 2016 Women's Hospital Classic champion.
Both Betkas and Shaffer had to make it through both the qualifying and main draws of the tournament to reach the singles final, but it was Shaffer who came out on top, winning 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.
The two singles finalists weren't just battling each other on Sunday, it was reported that on-court temperatures reached 125 degrees at Wesselman Tennis Center.
With the win, Shaffer becomes the second straight University of Georgia product to win the USTA Pro Circuit event.
Former Bulldog Lauren Herring won the tournament last year.
