Rock Steady Boxing Helping People With Parkinson's

It's no surprise to find a boxing class at the YMCA. What might surprise you, however, is finding one devoted specifically to helping people with Parkinson's disease.

Rock Steady Boxing was created to do just that.

The class, which started in Indianapolis before making its way to downtown Evansville, is helping people of all ages and all levels of ability. The Rock Steady athletes participate in multiple classes each week, performing non-contact boxing activities in 90-minute class sessions.

Many of the athletes have experienced first-hand the physical changes that the class hopes to provide, and all of them point to the bonds created with one another as the best part about the program.

For more information about Rock Steady Boxing or to sign up for a class, contact the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana in downtown Evansville.
