Evansville, Ind. - More than 700 families in the Tristate signed up to recieve gifts from Toys for Tots this year. Around a hundred boxes were placed at various locations around the city of Evansville to collect donations for today's toy give away. Local marines were on-hand to give the toys to needy families . Organizers say they focus on giving toys -to help parents purchase items of necessity -- so they can keep up with bills during the holidays.
"It gives me goose bumps!" Robert Reutter says.
"That's why we're here! We're mostly Marines; everything from Korea to current. Most of us grew up poor and this is our way to give back to the community", he added.
One hundred percent of the donations recieved goes toward purchasing toys for children.
