The first of 26 terriers was adopted from the Henderson County Humane Society. Jordan Strawn and his girlfriend adopted the dog they are naming "Lucy" this morning.
The humane society have around 40 people on a waiting list for these dogs. Jordan says being a part of helping these dogs find good homes is something that means a lot to him.
"I hope that they all find good homes," said Strawn, "that the rest of their life is a lot better than what it was."
Dorothea and Richard Conroy face 79 criminal counts in the case ranging from animal cruelty to failure to get rabies shots for the dogs.
