The 12th Annual Veteran's Invitational Tournament is now underway. The two week event kicked off with a special opening ceremony at Goebel Soccer Fields on N. Green River Rd.
The ladies are up first, taking the pitches through Sunday. About 270 teams are signed up to compete.
"It's a home grown event," said CVB Executive Director Bob Warren. "Something that we look forward to each and every year. It makes a big economic impact to our restaurant and our retail shopping, and it certainly does a great program for our hotel community."
The boy's tournament starts next weekend. The tournament is expected to bring in about $3 million in tourism.
