Bird Nest Blamed For House Fire

Investigators believe a bird nest may be the cause of an early morning house fire in Evansville Tuesday morning.
Evansville firefighters battle a fire in the 300-block of Lexington Avenue Tuesday morning.

The fire started just before 1:30.  The flames from a wood burning stove in the home's converted garage were stomped out after a few minutes.  Investigators believe build up from a bird's next in the chimney caused the fire.

The two people inside the home made it out, but had to be treated for smoke inhalation.

We're told the home sustained substantial smoke and water damage.
