13-year-old Isaac Carmon and his 10-year-old brother, Ethan, put together an appreciation dinner tonight for the Whitesville volunteer firefighters. The Daviess County Cattleman's Association catered the event with rib-eye sandwiches, chips, cookies, and lemonade.
The two brothers say it's their way of saying thanks to the local heroes.
"They serve us," said Isaac. "During time of crisis, they're usually the first responders in our Whitesville area. They help us, so we thought of returning the favor back to them."
"They are volunteers," said Ethan. "They don't get paid for what they do. They're just volunteering their time to serve the community."
Several organizations throughout the Whitesville community sponsored the meal.
