Car Catches on Fire on I-164

Parts of Interstate 164 were slow going Thursday morning after a car caught fire.
Parts of Interstate 164 were slow going Thursday morning after a car caught fire.

Eyewitness News viewer, Laura Lowe, sent the above picture as she drove by the scene.

Officials say it happened around 7:30a.m. in the northbound lanes near I-64.

The driver, we're told, got out safely, but firefighters say it was a difficult task due to the cold temperatures.

As they put out the flames, the water began freezing on the roadway.  Traffic was reduced to one lane as drivers slowed down around the scene.
