A 5-year-old boy is recovering after suffering second-degree burns, when his White County home catches fire.
A 5-year-old boy is recovering after suffering second-degree burns, when his White County home catches fire. The fire started at about 2 a.m. in Carmi, Illinois at Seventh St. and Shipley St.

Fire investigators say the child woke up everyone in the house. Nine people were there, and all got out okay. Authorities say several animals may have died in the fire.

A cause is unknown right now. The state fire marshal is handling the investigation.

A local church is making hotel accommodations for the displaced family.
