Churchill Downs Renovating Grandstands for Next Kentucky Derby

The historic Churchill Downs in Louisville is seeing some new renovations.
The historic Churchill Downs in Louisville is seeing some new renovations.

Construction crews are demolishing part of the grandstand to make way for a new patio and added seating near the Kentucky Derby's starting gate. 2,400 new seats will be added.

Track officials say the $14.5 million project will be completed in time for the Derby in May. Officials say this is the first grandstand renovation project since the early 1950's.
