The Evansville City Council talking tonight about a plan to raise your sewer bill. The Water and Sewer Utility wants to raise rates by 32 percent next year, another 8 percent in 2015, and 18 percent in 2016.
The extra money will help pay for more than $500 million in sewer improvements that are mandated by the Clean Water Act. The EPA sued the city to make the improvements.
The city council has the final say on the rate increase. This was just the first reading. They'll most likely have a final vote on September 23.
