City Hosting Briefing on Upcoming Water and Sewer Rate Changes

Evansville residents will have a chance to learn the changes coming to the city's water and sewer rates.

At 10:30 Tuesday morning, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and the water and sewer utility will host a briefing at the east waste water treatment plant.

Winnecke is scheduled to outline rate changes in 2014, provide an update on Evansville's federal mandate with the EPA, highlight specific water and sewer projects underway, and describe modifications to customers' bills.

In February 2013, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved a 9-point-2 percent increase in water rates for 2014.  And in September, the Evansville City Council approved a 32 percent increase in sewer rates for 2014.
