The event was held in honor of Evansville Police Detective Nathan Schroer. He was first diagnosed with Leukemia nine years ago. Since then, he's beat it twice. But, doctors say a recent biopsy showed Leukemia had returned.
Schroer is also an associate pastor at Northwoods Church. Now the flock is rallying around their pastor.
"It's been a gift to see so many people love us," said Lindsay Schroer. "Not only our church, but people we don't know."
Schroer is in the midst of chemotherapy. After, they'll see if he's in remission. If he is, they'll look for a stem cell match.
