Conservation Order Remains as More Water Main Breaks Reported

The water woes for the City of Evansville continued through the weekend after more than a dozen water main breaks were reported.

On Saturday alone, 19 new water main breaks were reported, according to the city's website.

Most of the reported breaks are in the southeastern corridor of Highway 41 and the Lloyd Expressway. We're told that area was originally the city's urban core so the pipes are among the oldest in town. Some of the pipes in that area are more than 90 years old, according to Allen Mounts, Director of the Water and Sewer Utility.

The water conservation order is still in place but officials say the situation has shown signs of improvement.
