An accident involving 4 vehicles snarled traffic on a major highway in Dubois County.

It happened just before 1:00 on Highway 231 just north of I-64.  Indiana State Police say Jonathan Shealey of Evansville was driving his semi on 231 when he crossed the center line and side-swiped another semi driven by Knox Whitt of Attalla, Alabama.  Dionne Jo Hanselman of Mariah Hill was behind Whitt's semi, saw the incident unfolding, and drove her Volkswagen Jetta off the road to avoid the accident, but she ended up hitting a utility pole.  Police say Shealey continued to drive left of center and hit an Oldsmobile Alero driven by Tiffany Vogler of Dupo, Illinois.

Vogler and two of her passengers was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Whitt was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say charges are pending against Shealey.
