2013 a Good Year for the Ford Center

Officials say Ford Center had a big 2013, and they expect 2014 to be better.
Officials say Ford Center had a big 2013, and they expect 2014 to be better. The Redevelopment Commission met today to hear details on both venues' years.

The Ford Center hosted 141 events in 2013, with most falling between October and April. Officials say that events tend to slow down in the Summer months.

Now the Ford Center is in its third year and has skipped the "honeymoon" phase and is settling into its regular schedule.

"Dates have always been the problem since day one in the facility," said Ford Center Executive Director Scott Schoenike. "If I could have more Saturdays between October and April, I could do a lot more business. So, dates are consistently the problem, which isn't a bad thing to have."

Officials say they had to turn away two country acts wanting to practice in the Ford Center because they just didn't have the days open.
