Evansville Man Arrested for Shoplifting, Possession of Meth

A 24-year-old Evansville man is arrested on drug charges, while allegedly shoplifting at the east side Walmart. Officers say he was trying to steal products from a home drug testing kit.
A 24-year-old Evansville man is arrested on drug charges, while allegedly shoplifting at the east side Walmart. Officers say he was trying to steal products from a home drug testing kit.

Joseph Valenzuela is being held without bond. An EPD officer had to order him to the ground at gunpoint inside the store around 2:30 a.m. because he says the man was using a large knife to cut open a package then refused to take his hands out of his pockets.

Officers say he threw something in a nearby trash can before he was confronted. Inside that trash can, the officers say they found a bag with half a gram of meth inside.
