Aces Drop Two to Nationally Ranked Mizzou

The Aces held an early lead in game one, but faltered late to drop both games of a double header Tuesday to #18 Missouri.
        Aces head softball coach Mark Redburn is familiar with the Missouri Tigers program. He was its assistant coach when the Tigers made the trip to the College World Series in 2009. The #18 Missouri Tigers at Cooper Stadium Tuesday for a double header.  Aces freshman Brianna Combs held Mizzou scoreless through the first two innings. Megan Gurski and Kayla Fortner hit back to back home runs in the bottom of the fourth to give UE a 3-1 lead. The Tigers offense would get going though, scoring six unanswered to win game one 7-3.
        Game two started the way game one ended. The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead through the top half of the seventh, but the Aces showed a lot of heart. Gurski blasted her second home run of the day and shortstop Michal Luckett added an RBI single. But the Tigers proved too much for the Aces in the end, winning 6-2. 
        The losses drop Evansville to 9-8 on the young season.  Missouri improves to 15-5.
